Resonant Silence Technique ® Sessions, Classes and Speaking Engagements with Miriam Fein
CERTIFIED RESONANT SILENCE PRACTITIONER (CRSP) TRAINING I am now offering on line training to become a Certified Resonant Silence Practitioner (CRSP). In June 2022, our first student, Recreation Therapist, Jean Kannan, graduated as our first Certified Resonant Silence Practitioner. Congratulations, Jean!
The following is a description and the course outline for our upcoming Resonant Silence Certification Training to begin on January 7th, 2024 at 11 am Pacific Time.
Resonant Silence Technique (RST) ® Certification Training with Miriam Fein, Creator of Resonant Silence Technique tm
In this training you will build and nurture a consciousness of stillness within yourself through the art and skills of Resonant Silence Technique (RST) in order to share this silent consciousness and the sound meditations that augment it with those with dementia and other cognitive and neurological conditions for their healing and renewal.
In sharing Resonant Silence Technique (RST) you are your own, best instrument. By this I mean, that your state of consciousness, your quietness within and without and your still presence are the most important healing qualities that you offer. In our training I will often refer to our inner stillness as our “consciousness of quiet”.
Resonant Silence Technique tm is based in part on a meditation on the ancient sacred Hebrew word “Sh’ma” which is the first word of the central Jewish prayer called the Sh’ma. The exercise which is called RST 2 begins this meditation. We complete this Sh’ma meditation in the Sixth Class.
Classes meet each week and last approximately an hour to an hour and one half. They will be offered through zoom and I will send a link to you for each class. To do this, I will need your email address.
The Certification training begins on Sunday, January 7th, 2024 at 11 am Pacific Time and continues for the next 8 weeks. All classes are on Sundays.
The training costs $450. You can use Zelle or PayPal to transfer funds directly to my bank. My email is miriamfein8@gmail.com and my phone number is 206-939-2124. If you prefer, you can pay for the training by making a check out to me, Miriam Fein, and mail it to Miriam Fein PO Box 446 La Conner, WA 98257.
Required Reading
My article entitled, A New Dementia Treatment with Quieting Focus, Subtle Sound Vibration and Intentional Shared Silence: Introducing Resonant Silence Technique: Innovative Practice by Miriam I Fein.
This article gives a nice overview of Resonant Silence Technique (RST) and how RST tm is used to help those with dementia. The article was published in 2018 in Dementia: the international journal of social research and practice.
You can find the article on this website, in the “Understanding RST” section of the website. My website address is: www.resonantsilencetechnique.com
You can also read my article on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) website at this address: https://www.ncbi.nlm.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7088230
When you read my article you will notice that when I shared RST by myself, I played a variety of instruments including the guitar, cedar flute, bowed psaltery, singing bowl and ting-sha (small rounded Tibetan chimes).
When I began to teach RST, though, I realized that I wanted to make it accessible to non-musicians as well as musicians. For this reason, I expanded the vocal sound exercises and began to play just two simple instruments to gently lead people into stillness. These instruments are the 1. the one tone chime and 2. the 8 note glockenspiel. I chose these instruments for they can reliably produce the pure and enduring sounds that we need to usher us into stillness in RST.
In researching which one tone chime would be best, I listened to a variety of them and found that the Zenergy ® one tone chime from Woodstock Chimes had the rich oscillating tone that is perfect for following a sound into silence. The glockenspiel I choose was the Hohner glockenspiel made in Israel. This particular glockenspiel has a pure and sustaining tone that is easy to follow into silence which makes it excellent for RST. Playing a beautiful and enduring tone on each of these instruments, though, requires a little instruction. This I will provide for you in the Fifth Class.
A Zenergy ® Solo Silver chime (One Tone Chime) can be purchased on line from Woodstock Chimes for about $15.99 plus shipping and tax. The Hohner Glockenspiel has its number and where it is manufactured printed on the instrument itself. This number is Hohner # 20008 0715 made in Israel or 2008 0411 ISRAEL. This instrument can be bought on line at Ebay or at hohnerkids.com for approximately $24.77 plus shipping and tax with the following description: 8-Note Glockenspiel Item # SGC2.

This group is always begun with the "Sh" RST exercise, that we shared on the home page of this website. After sharing this exercise a few times, we then, sing songs from many styles of music, from show tunes, to old English, Scottish and Irish, to American folk music, to some rock and roll, to sea shantys, to my original music, to popular music from the beginning of the 20th century through today. It's a grand group of friendly folks singing together, and is a lot of fun. Good for the soul!
